Analytics

How to read your brand's numbers in Bupple Analytics — the headline tiles, filters, top posts, best times to post, each post's own page, refresh and alerts.

Analytics shows how the brand you have selected is doing on its social accounts: how many posts went out, how many people saw them, how many reacted, and when your audience responds best. Open it from Analytics in the sidebar, under Posts, or press Y. Everything on the page belongs to the brand chosen at the top of the sidebar, so switch brands to see another brand's numbers.

The numbers come from the accounts you connected in Posts. Bupple keeps them day by day, so you can look back, compare periods and open any single post. Numbers arrive within a day of a post going out. A brand with nothing yet says No numbers for this brand yet.

The top of the page

The page opens on the last 7 days. The line under the title says which days you are looking at and which days they are compared with, for example Sep 17 – Oct 16, against Aug 18 – Sep 16. The period before is always the same number of days.

The Analytics header with the update time, the Refresh button, the filters and the five number tiles

  1. Updated … says when the numbers on the screen were last read from the networks, like Updated 3 days ago. Hover it to see the exact date and time. Beside it, Next update says when Bupple will read them again for free, like Next update in ~3 h. If nothing has been read yet, it says Not updated yet.
  2. Refresh now · 1 credit reads your numbers again right away. See Refresh your numbers.
  3. Last 7 days, Last 30 days and Last 90 days pick a period that ends today.
  4. The calendar picks any range you like. See Pick your own dates.
  5. All networks narrows the page to one network, such as LinkedIn or Instagram. Only networks the brand has an account on are listed.
  6. All accounts narrows the page to one connected account. If you picked a network first, only that network's accounts are offered.
  7. All campaigns narrows the page to the posts of one campaign. See Campaigns.
  8. The five tiles: Posts, Impressions, Engagements, Clicks and Followers.

Every filter changes every card on the page at once. Your filters are kept in the page's address, so if you reload the page or send the link to a teammate, they see the same view.

What the tiles mean

Each tile shows the number for your period and, under it, the change from the period before, like +44% or −17%. A drop is shown in red. If there was nothing in the period before, the change says new. If no network reported a measure, the tile says Not reported instead of showing a zero, so you are never shown a number Bupple made up.

  • Posts counts each post published in the period once.
  • Impressions, Engagements and Clicks add up those posts, each at its newest numbers. Engagements are likes, comments, shares and saves together.
  • Followers is your accounts' total, and under it the number of followers gained or lost in the period.

Pick your own dates

Click the date button to open a calendar with two months side by side. Click the first day, then the last day. The bottom of the calendar shows the range you picked. Nothing changes until you press Apply. Press Cancel to close it. You cannot pick a day after today.

The campaign filter open, listing All campaigns and the brand's campaigns

Day by day

The Day by day card draws your impressions and engagements for each day of the period. The totals for the whole period are written above the chart. Hover over a day to see that day's numbers.

The Day by day chart with impressions and engagements over 30 days

The two lines have their own scales. Engagements are usually much smaller than impressions, so on one scale they would look flat. Use the chart for the shape: which days went up and which went down. Read the exact numbers from the tiles.

Without a campaign picked, the chart shows what reached the brand's accounts each day. With a campaign picked, it shows what that campaign's posts gained each day instead.

Top posts and best times to post

Under the chart, two cards sit side by side.

The Top posts table and the Best times to post card

  1. Top posts lists the five best posts published in the period, by engagements. Each row shows the post's networks, the day it went out, its impressions, engagements and engagement rate. Click a post to open its own page. A post that was made straight in the network's own app is marked Posted outside Bupple. Bupple still keeps its numbers.
  2. Best times to post lists the days and hours when your posts got the highest engagement rate, looking at the last 90 days, in your own time zone. The top one is marked Best, and each line says the average rate and how many posts it is based on, like 5.07% from 2 posts. If there are not enough posts yet to say, the card tells you so instead of guessing a time.

The posts table

At the bottom, Posts lists every post published in the period, at its newest numbers: Published, Impressions, Reach, Views, Likes, Comments, Shares, Saves, Clicks, Engagements and Rate.

The Posts table sorted by impressions

  1. Click a column name to sort by it, biggest first. Click it again to flip the order. The sort covers every post in the period, not only the ones on screen. A number a network did not report says Not reported and is placed last.
  2. Click a post, or anywhere on its row, to open its own page.

The table shows 25 posts at a time. When there are more, use Next and Previous at the bottom.

A post's own page

A post's page is titled Post analytics. It shows the post's text, its networks and the day it was published.

The Post analytics page with the post text, Open the post and charts for each measure

  1. Open the post takes you to the post in Posts. When the network gave Bupple a link to the post, See it on the network opens it there. A post made outside Bupple has no Open the post link.
  2. Every measure has its own chart: Impressions, Reach, Views, Likes, Comments, Shares, Saves, Clicks and Engagement rate. Each account the post went out on gets its own line. The lines climb over time, because each day shows the post's running total. The big number is the newest total.

Under the charts, the Day by day table lists the same running totals for each day and each account, newest day first. Use Analytics at the top left to go back.

Refresh your numbers

Bupple reads your numbers again on its own about every six hours, for free. The Next update label says when. If you need fresher numbers now, for example right after a big post, press Refresh now · 1 credit.

  • A refresh is charged only when it worked. If nothing new could be read, you are told so and No credits were used.
  • While a refresh is running, the button says Refreshing….
  • If the brand has no connected account, the button is off. Hover it to see why.

Good to know

Refreshing costs one credit each time you press it and it works. If you can wait a few hours, the free update will get the same numbers.

Alerts about your numbers

You do not have to watch the page to hear about big moments. Bupple tells everyone who works on the brand, in Updates and by push notification, when:

  • A post is doing far better than usual. A post has at least twice what your posts on that network usually have at the same age.
  • Engagement dropped week over week. Last week's likes, comments, shares and saves fell by 30% or more compared with the week before.
  • An account passed a follower milestone, such as 100, 500, 1,000 or 5,000 followers.

Each alert is sent once. You can turn these off with the Analytics alerts switch in your notification settings.

Weekly lessons in your Brand Kit

Every Monday, Bupple looks at how last week's posts did and writes what it learned into the What Works and What Fails fields of your Brand Kit. It does the same for each campaign with measured posts, in the campaign's memory. The lessons are built only from your real numbers, and you do not pay credits for them. A brand needs at least three measured posts before anything is written. The Superagent and the other agents read these fields, so your next posts can build on what worked.

  • Posts — connect accounts, then plan and publish the posts these numbers come from.
  • Campaigns — set a goal and follow one campaign's results.
